word cloud anxiety with finger pointing

In today's fast-paced world, anxiety has become an increasingly prevalent concern. In this article, we delve into the ancient practice of acupuncture and its potential as a natural remedy to alleviate anxiety and promote overall well-being.

For me, anxiety was a result of university and work pressure and unreasonable expectations which I had put on myself. This is only one possible cause though. Many suffer from anxiety as a bi-product of other medical conditions like the menopause or other acute or chronic conditions. It can be a result of trauma, including PTSD and also often a result of our pressurised modern lives. Indeed there are 13 different classifications of anxiety disorders in the latest DSM (the manual used by professionals who diagnose anxiety disorders).

Symptoms and physical manifestations can varying considerably, from shortness of breath and variations in heart rate, to full blown and debilitating panic attacks, headaches, pain and insomnia.

Acupuncture has been shown to be effective in supporting patients struggling with anxiety as a complimentary addition to other treatments. You can find out more about the research into how acupuncture can help with anxiety at https://www.evidencebasedacupuncture.org/acupuncture.../

For patients with anxiety I also work to ensure that their experience is calming and I can provide advice on meditation, gentle exercise and breathing techniques from my qigong training. Ultimately, my goal is to help bring your body and mind into a state of calm which is more conducive to good health.
